Private hospitals in Kolkata have been asked to inform the government about the status of their dengue and malaria patients on a daily basis by uploading the data on the health and family welfare website, similar to what they have been doing for Covid patients. At a virtual meeting with representatives of private hospitals on Saturday - conducted by health secretary Narayan Swarup Nigam - they were also asked to 'regulate, rationalize and restrict' out-of-pocket expenses of patients on dengue tests and treatment. All private diagnostic laboratories, including those at private hospitals, have been asked to 'regulate pricing to a reasonable limit' or else the government would intervene.
