As many as 6,334 passengers who arrived in Bengal on Monday from Covid-19 affected regions have been placed under surveillance as the state government stepped up its cross-border medical checks. This is the biggest single-day rise – 51% of the total — in the number of people being screened since the medical protocol was put in place. Till now, 12,200 people have been put under medical surveillance, 73 among them hospitalised. Also, the four Covid-19 test reports received on Monday turned negative but one report was H1N1 positive and two others tested for influenza.
