There is yet no reason to accept the disputed theory that Subhas Chandra Bose had died in a plane crash in Taihoku since there were enough indications to suggest he may indeed have sneaked into Russia at the end of World War II, said Netaji scholar and researcher Purabi Roy. Reacting to the Bose family’s decision to accept that Netaji had perished in the crash on August 18, 1945 “in absence of proof that he had managed to enter either Russia or China in the subsequent period”, Roy pointed out that the GRU archive in Moscow had papers that referred to Netaji’s presence in the country in October 1946, more than a year after his mysterious disappearance. That apart, Roy claimed that KGB files on Netaji that have never been accessed may contain evidence that suggests he was not killed in the crash.
