‘Abhijit was pulled up for poor handwriting’

Despite being good with numbers, Abhijit Vinayak Banerjee was pulled up by his mathematics teacher in Class VIII. Not because he was getting his sums wrong, but because of his poor handwriting. Dipali Sengupta, who was Banerjee’s maths teacher in classes VI and VIII, recalled that the youngster struggled to write legibly.
