Kolkata: New and old links to ease traffic chaos

In a bid to unclog the traffic mess in Behala in the run-up to the Pujas, KMDA is likely to throw open two new Bailey bridges at Karunamoyee and Tollygunge Phanri and restart movement of vehicles on Chetla Lock Gate Bridge from Monday. According to a senior KMDA official, the twin Bailey bridges will be opened at 11am while Chetla Lock Gate Bridge — shut down last month owing to its heavily corroded and ravaged condition — may be reopened in the evening following a round of inspection.
